Orange Belt Curriculum (10th Gup)

Short Form (Danhyung)

[Start from back stance (daebijasae) ]

1.       Front leg front kick, double punch.

2.       Front leg roundhouse kick, outside pulls, elbow strike, knife, grab pull, straight punch.

3.       Rear leg front kick, double high blocks, four middle punches.

4.       Rear leg roundhouse kick, elbow strike, double low block, tiger mouth (hogukwon), outward knife strike (waesoodo) inward knife strike (naesoodo).

5.       Rear leg front kick, roll punch, inward circle block, outward circle block (wax on, wax off), palm strike.

6.       Rear leg roundhouse kick, grab outside pulls, elbow strike, waesoodo, vertical punch, back fist.

7.       Step forward side kick, back fist, vertical punch, back fist.

8.       Mantis block, palm strike, back kick, back fist, side punch, back fist.

 

Long Form (Hwarang Sip Gup Hyung)

1.       Bow.

2.       Execute KI exercise.

3.       Execute Finger wrist exercise (3x).

4.       Rt. step back into a front stance (both hands on waist), cross palm down cover and high cover followed by a double palm push strike.

5.       Rt. step forward into a front stance (gongkyukjasae), Rt. inside middle block, Lt. top block, Rt. middle palm strike (Lt. hand covers Rt. side face), retract both hands to waist, cross palm down and up cover followed by a double palm push strike.

6.       Lt. step forward into front stance, Lt. inside middle block, Rt. top block, Lt. middle palm strike (Rt. hand covers Lt. side face).

7.       90¡Æ body turn into front stance toward 3 o¡¯clock with a Rt. forearm down block.

8.       Lt. step forward into a back stance (daebijasae) with a Lt. outside middle forearm block (waejoongdanmokgi) and followed by a Rt. reverse punch (change into a left front stance).

9.       Rt. step forward into a back stance Rt. outside middle forearm block (waejoongdanmokgi) and counter with a Lt. reverse punch (change into a right front stance). 

10.   Lt. step forward into a back stance with a Lt. top block (sangdanmokgi) and counter with a Rt. reverse punch (change into a left front stance).

11.   Rt. step forward into a back stance with a Rt. top block then followed by a Lt. reverse punch (change into a right front stance).

12.   Look over Rt. shoulder then, body pivot (clockwise) 180¡Æ Rt. step into a back stance.  

13.   Lt. step forward into a back stance and execute No. 5 short form. (pause with a Rt. front stance while Rt. arm extended forward with open palm fingers pointing up)

14.   Execute Lt. No.5 short form.

15.   Body pivot 90¡Æ clockwise and Rt. step into a horse stance (kimajasae) with Rt. high and Lt. low cover.

16.   Execute a Rt. snake fist (sakwon) toward 6 o¡¯clock and Yell (kihop) loudly.

17.   Body turn 90¡Æ clockwise Lt. step into a back stance facing 6 o¡¯clock.

18.   Execute a double palm slap to ear drums – twin spear hand to groin nerve points – eagle claws – twin middle knuckle fists (joongjikwon) to rib cage.

19.   Look to the Lt. (3 o¡¯clock) and change into a Rt. back stance.  

20.   Rt. step forward (3 o¡¯clock) into a Lf. front stance.

21.   Execute a Rt. back fist (hookwon) to groin (12 o¡¯clock) simultaneously pivot into a Rt. front stance.

22.   Rt. foot moves into an upright stance.

23.   Bow.

 

One Step Defense (Ilbo daeryun)

(Defense against a Rt. reverse front kick and a Rt. straight punch – Apply a soft crossed palm block for front kick defense and a Lt. outside palm block for defending a straight punch)

1.       Straight punch to chin, side kick

2.       Vertical punch to sternum, side kick

3.       Straight punch to floating rib, snapping side kick

4.       Straight punch to pubic bone, snapping side kick

(Defense against a Rt. reverse front kick and a Rt. straight punch – Apply a soft crossed palm block for front kick defense and a Rt. inside palm block for defending a straight punch)

5.       Back fist to temple, back kick

6.       Back fist to ear, back kick

7.       Back fist to eye brow, back kick

8.       Back fist to cheek bone, back kick

9.       Back fist to jaw, back kick

10.   Outside knife strike (waesoodo) to neck, back kick

(Defense against a Rt. reverse front kick and a Rt. straight punch – Apply a soft crossed palm block for front kick defense and a Lt. outside palm block for defending a straight punch)

11.   Choke strike to throat, jump front kick

12.   Eagle claw to eyes, jump front kick

13.   Inside elbow to head, back kick

14.   Bear paw strike to head, roundhouse kick

15.   Downward knife strike to collar bone, round house kick

16.   Middle finger knuckle strike to sternum, knee kick

17.   Middle finger knuckle strike to heart, knee kick

18.   Thumb strike to solar plexus, knee kick

19.   Heel palm strike to rib cage, knee kick

20.   Inward elbow strike to chest, back kick

21.   Upper cut to chin, back kick

22.   (Inside palm block) Outside elbow strike to arm pit, back kick

23.   Round house kick to head, leg sweep

24.   (Inside palm block) Spinning outside elbow strike to chest leg pull takedown

25.   (Inside palm block) Spinning outside elbow strike to head, leg pull takedown

26.   (Inside palm block) Spinning outside knife strike to neck, side kick

27.   (Outside-outside palm block shoulder grab control) Roundhouse kick to chest, downward knife strike (jongsoodo) to neck

28.   (Outside-outside palm block shoulder grab control) Roundhouse kick to chest, downward elbow strike to back of head

29.   Palm strike to groin, roundhouse kick to rib

30.   (Outside-outside palm block) Roundhouse kick to chest, wrist trap, shoulder grab pull, downward knife strike (jongsoodo) to neck

 

Orange Belt Kicking Techniques

1.      Jump front kick

2.      Jump roundhouse kick

3.      Side kick (Standing, Reverse, Step in)

4.      Back kick (Standing, Reverse, Step in)

 

Orange Belt Combination Kicking Drill

1.      From back stance – front single leg jump front kick – back kick – back fist –   reverse punch – turnaround – repeat.

2.      From back stance – front single leg jump roundhouse kick – back kick – back fist – reverse punch – turnaround – repeat.

3.      From back stance – step side kick – back kick – back fist – reverse punch – turnaround – repeat.
